Dear family and friends,

Courtney and I are thrilled to announce that, as part of our union, we have chosen the family name “Sidereal.”

Sidereal is a word which means “to measure something relative to the distant stars” and is pronounced “sigh-dee-ree-uhl.” (you can hear it here: https://www.google.com/search?q=sidereal+pronunciation)

Knowing us, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear we also created a family motto, coat of arms, family principles, and have started a family cookbook. :)

We designed a coat of arms containing symbology which represents our family principles and commissioned an artist to create the attached interpretation.

We researched the meanings behind historic coats of arms to establish the symbols and colors for our coat of arms, based on our family principles:

“Independence, growth, endurance” is represented by the color green and an acorn.

“Enthusiastic spirit, ambition, optimism” is represented by the color orange and the sun.

“Strong will to survive, strong will to take action” is represented by the color red and the eagle.

“Openness of cognitive process, bright mind, new ideas” is represented by the color gold and the book.

The Sidereal Family motto is “per aspera ad astra” which means “through struggle to the stars.”

This is the start of a thrilling new chapter of our lives together. We are so excited for all that is to come on this journey and to share it with you.
